This eagle with the American Flag in his clinch, is carved from a tree in the court yard of the Lyons Court House in Lyons, Kansas. The workmanship is beautiful and with the flag in the background, it makes an approperate setting for such lovely art.

Here are some of the connections I have made to the Allison's. Enjoy your visit and if you are related or have a connection to the Allison Family, let me hear from you.

My father Raymond Cochran is the son of Thomas Jefferson Cochran and Clara Lucina Hymer. Thomas and Clara were married on September 12, 1912 in Washington County, Oklahoma. Raymond was born in 1913 in the home of his grandmother Sophia Melissa Allison-Hymer.

Sophia Melissa Allison was born to Jehiel Allison and Mary Waller-Allison in Morgan County, Ohio in 1849.

Sophia married John B. Hymer in Jefferson County, Kansas.

She died Jan 21, 1927 at the home of her daughter Clara Lucina Hymer-Cochran on January 21, 1927 and is buried in the White Rose Cemetery in Bartlesville, Washington Co., Oklahoma.

The History begins something like this: Robert Allison, called 'Short Robert' to distinguish him from his cousin with the same name, was born in Londonderry, Ulster Co., Northern Ireland about 1696. He imigrated to Virginia with his mother and several other relatives. He married in Virginia about 1741 and died in Virginia in the early 1800's at the age of 104 years.

Robert and his wife had six children.
1. Andrew Allison, born 1744 and died 1808;
2. William Allison, born 1745 and died 24 Aug 1781;
3. Hugh Allison, born 1747 and died 18 Aug 1824;
4. Robert Allison Jr., born 31 Aug 1755 in Virginia; married Elizabeth Phillips in 1781 and died 15 Sep 1812;
5. Charles Allison, born 1757 and died 1818 and
6. Polly Allison, born 1758 and died 1814.

From these offspring the line I come from is through Hugh Allison.
Hugh was born in 1747 in Virginia, and died August 18, 1824 in Lowell, Washington Co, Ohio.
He married Sallie Scott on September 24, 1778 in Washington Co., Ohio. From the union of Hugh and Sallie was born the following children:

1. Sallie Allison, she married John Morris on May 2, 1816 in Washington Co., OH
2. Elizabeth (Betsy) Allison, born March 1, 1778 in Rockbridge Co., VA; died 1838 in Lowell, Washington Co., OH
3. William Allison, born 1779 Rockbridge Co., VA and died September 28, 1858.
4. Agnes Nancy Allison, born 1781 in Washington Co., OH
5. Hannah Allison, born 1782 in Roxbridge VA; died July 18, 1819 in Ohio.
6. Robert Allison, born 1784; died June 10, 1866.
7. Hugh Allison, Jr., born 1786 in Roxbridge, VA; died about 1846. He married Patience Neal August 27, 1809 in Washington, Co., Ohio.
8. Charles Allison, Capt., born 1789 in Ohio; died March 1816. Bured in Lowell Cemetery, Washington Co., Ohio.
9. Mary Polly Allison, born August 5, 1792 in Ohio; died November 5, 1866.
10. Andrew Allison, born October 30, 1800 in Ohio; died March 16, 1858 in Wayne Co., Illinois.

From this generation I decended from William Allison who on May 29, 1814 married Elizabeth Kenney in Washington Co., Ohio, the daughter of Nathan Kenne and Mary Wilson. William and Elizabeth had the following offspring.

1. Jehiel Allison
2. Hugh Allison, born in Washington Co., Ohio. He married Mary Richardson on April 15, 1844 in Washington Co., Ohio.
3. Levi Allison
4. Ezra Allison
5. Andrew Allison
6. Sallie Allison, born July 25, 1817; died July 27, 1841.
7. William Allison, born 1827; died 1829.
8. Elizabeth Allison, born December 9, 1828; died July 1, 1850.
9. William Kinne Allison, born March 13, 1832; died October 1, 1894 in BlueSprings, Jackson Co., Missouri.

At another point of the globe the following was taking place.

Daniel Marriette born in the early 1770’s Guemsey, Channel Islands. (French) Immigrated to US in early 1800’s with his 3 children:
These three Mariette siblings married three Waller siblings. 1) Jean/John Marriette married Mary Waller 2) Thomas Marriette married Jane Waller 3) Elizabeth Marriette married John Waller and they had two children: Samuel and Mary.

After John Waller’s death Elizabeth Marriette-Waller married Price Roach on November 24, 1838, Morgan Co. OH
(Price Roach is also on the 1840 census in OH)

1) Samuel Waller married Jemima Crawford on 01-08-1839 Olive Green Twp, Morgan Co., Ohio
2) Mary Waller b: married Jehiel Allison on 06-07-1838 Olive Green Twp, Morgan Co., Ohio.

The above Samuel Waller may be incorrect. This is a email received from a correspondant who is also researching this family line. Please note the comment listed here...

Hi Pat,
regarding your info below on your website:
Daniel Marriette was born much earlier than 1770's.
Since originally sending you this info I found out that John Waller and Elizabeth Marriette did not have the son, Samuel. Samuel who married Jemima Crawford belonged to a different Waller family.

I thought of you as my family drove through OK this summer! Anything new with Jehiel Allison or his children?
